14 May Project Hope
Project Hope continues to serve Hutchison Elementary School families, as well as the surrounding community in Herndon, Virginia. This past month, we hosted a dinner to give parents, students, and police the opportunity to share their country of origin by providing dishes from their respective cultures. Police officers and families enjoyed sharing their food and engaging in conversations that may not have been made possibly apart from the camaraderie this event brought to the community.
In addition to delicious food and conversations, the police officers also partook in soccer and basketball games with children at the event. The friendly games provided a level of comfort and trust between children and police officers that help police officers serve the neighborhood and also help equip students for a bright future.
The collaborative dinner helped to further engage families with Project Hope, and left the students eager to participate in the upcoming summer program. Project Hope will offer fishing trips, miniature golf, and kickball tournaments between participants and police officers this summer. It is a great opportunity to keep students engaged in productive, educational, and enjoyable activities alongside the police officers that seek to protect and serve them every day.
